DF Capital names charity of the year – City of Trees

DF Capital, the specialist commercial lending and personal savings bank, today announced that it has chosen City of Trees as its 2021 company charity.

City of Trees is delivering a green recovery and tackling the climate emergency head on, through planting trees and restoring woodlands for the people and wildlife of Greater Manchester. Working with communities, organisations, and businesses to build an ambitious movement, it is dedicated to planting a tree for every citizen within just five years.

The charity was chosen after a shortlist of charities was put to a company-wide vote. DF Capital has already kicked off its fundraising efforts with a bang and has planned lots of activities for the coming 12 months.

Carl D’Ammassa, CEO, DF Capital, commented: “Our team is committed to giving back to its local community. As a bank that is headquartered in Manchester, we have a strong connection to the area, so it’s important to us to support a local cause that resonates with our employees. City of Trees is leading the charge when it comes to helping make the area a greener, more resilient and pleasant environment. We are therefore delighted to join forces to raise the much-needed funds to help plant more trees, restore more green spaces and woodlands for the benefit of both our communities and the wildlife around us. It’s a privilege to support this organisation throughout the year ahead and we look forward to getting involved as we come out of this latest lockdown.”

Sarah Nurton, City of Trees, commented: “We believe that trees are a critical tool in addressing our state of climate emergency. We are planting trees that will contribute to Greater Manchester becoming carbon neutral by 2038 and we’re delighted that DF Capital is now part of this by choosing City of Trees as its charity of the year. Thank you very much!”

For the last two years, DF Capital has supported Wood Street Mission and in the last 12 months alone raised £5,500 to enable it to provide low-income families with the day-to-day essential items that they need for their children. DF Capital will still be supporting Wood Street Mission’s 2021 Christmas Appeal.
